English studies journal standards: CCCC 2008 presentation

Developing open standards to improve the web presences of English studies journals

Working with editors from Enculturation, Kairos, and the CCC Online Archive, I am developing standards for journals in English studies, especially writing studies, with the hopes of improving findability, accessibility, and usability. Among other things, establishment of journal standards can improve journals’ abilities to exchange citations and other metadata, facilitating scholarship in many ways.

Like the Web Standards Project (WaSP), I believe open standards facilitate diverse collaborations, and I hope to promote their constructive use through advocacy, documentation, and presentation of high-quality examples. For more information, see the materials from the session where these standards were presented: http://wrecking.org/cccc2008/

All feedback is appreciated. My collaborators and I welcome more contributors as well.
